There’s always an opportunity to be found in regional Australia, and machinery dealer Roger Vater talks about this in the latest edition of Regional Voices.
Staff and apprentices are the basis of growth for businesses and communities in regional Australia. One South Australian business has put a particular focus on finding and training staff.
A.W. Vater & Co employs around 45 staff across two branches in Saddleworth and Kadina. Roger says that businesses and their staff need to be more technologically minded than in the past and on top of tech innovation. It’s not just understanding the technology in the machinery, but also teaching the buyers how to use it and involving agronomists in that training process.
We depend on our staff – we need them to be as highly skilled as possible, so there’s a requirement that we invest in our staff and give them the best opportunities we can to learn and develop.Roger Vater, A.W. Vater & Co.
Roger spoke with Regional Voices about why A.W. Vater focuses on training staff and apprentices to enable their business growth, the opportunities it opens up for his team, and why he’s enthusiastic about their future.
