Re-engineering Australia: inspiring the next generation

Regional Voices speaks with Dr Michael Myers, a dad who turned a case of parental guilt into a program that has shown thousands of kids that engineering can be just as exciting as it is challenging.

Dr Michael Meyers, founder of Re-Engineering Australia, has seen kids from across Australia, including regional areas, demonstrate an amazing capacity for creative problem solving as they compete in teams to design and build formula one race cars and submarines.

Michael believes kids in the bush have a knack for solving problems and he shares why it’s vital to give all kids an opportunity to excel no matter where they are.

I think what we’re doing is catching a lot of kids who for some reason or another lacked that spark in their eye. Once you capture their interest they accelerate at a hundred miles an hour.
Dr Michael Meyers, Founder of Re-Engineering Australia

He spoke with Regional Voices about how his foundation aims to create innovators of the future and capture the imagination of young people to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
