Have Your Say – Review of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman

Do you employ less than 100 staff? Have you ever had a dispute with a larger business and tried to get it resolved without much success? Have you heard of the Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman?

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO) is your dedicated advocate within the Australian Government, with powers to initiate inquiries and contribute to other government reviews. The ASBFEO's focus is to get small business on the Federal Government’s radar, raise issues that are of concern to you in running your business and make sure our laws and regulations help you to grow and thrive.

The Ombudsman has been in operation for 12 months and the time has come to review their operations.

The Ombudsman has completed two inquiries to date:

  • Small business loans
  • Impact of the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal

The inquiry into payment times and practices is underway at the moment.

Some of the other government processes that the ASBFEO is contributing to include consultation on the dairy industry and on penalty rates.

The Ombudsman can also assist you in settling some disputes or refer you to other dispute resolution facilities depending on the context.

National Farmers' Federation has developed this survey for you to put your views forward on the Ombudsman’s performance to date. Please help us to represent your views and get the policy settings right.

The survey can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LDFGVLR

The survey should only take around five minutes to comeplete and closes at 5pm on Monday 3 April 2017.

Responses are anonymous and confidential.

We hope you will participate in our survey. Your feedback is important.
