Great line-up of speakers at Innovation Generation 2017

Harnessing the power of social media and the internet to tell a positive story in agriculture is the theme of the Australian grains industry’s premier annual conference for younger growers (under 35) - Innovation Generation.

Harnessing the power of social media and the internet to tell a positive story in agriculture is the theme of the Australian grains industry’s premier annual conference for younger growers (under 35) - Innovation Generation.

More than 150 young Australian grain growers from across Australia are expected to gather in Adelaide for this year’s event from 3-5 July at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

With less than a month to go, the program is a ‘Can’t Miss This’ event for young growers and agribusiness professionals, said Organiser, Dr Michael Southan, GrainGrowers’ General Manager – Industry Development.

“The advent of the digital age – and particularly social media – provides tremendous opportunities for Australian farmers and the greater agricultural sector to connect with distant markets and customers and tell a positive story, literally at the press of the button. It also provides challenges in regions where connectivity is an issue.

“Innovation Generation 2017 will explore how as a collective, Australian farmers – and grain growers in particular - can best take advantage of this virtual world.

“The speaker line-up includes those who already have a big ‘digital ag’ footprint and those with big ideas on how it can work into the future.

“Through collaborative sessions, IG delegates will discuss exactly what messages we should send out as an industry. And, with the world listening, what we don’t want to say! Discussion will include practical steps about how to get the message out and benefit grain farm businesses along the way.

“IG is now in its 11th year and has always proved to be a fantastic way for young grain growers to get together and discuss the big issues in agriculture.”
