Song and dance starts countdown to Ag Day

As the days tick down until National Ag Day on Tuesday November 21, George the Farmer is encouraging schools kids to get involved.

Ag Day ambassador George and his mates Simone and Ben, hosted a special Facebook LIVE event on Monday performing for the first time his official Ag Day song – aptly named ‘Ag Day’!

Schools from across the nation tuned into the event to sing along to ‘Ag Day’ and a swag of George’s most popular tunes including We Love Potatoes and The Harvest Hop.

Special guest, the Member for Barker in South Australia, Hon Tony Pasin MP, also joined in the dancing.

To encourage kids to learn more about farming and where their food comes from, George has been busy developing a range of engaging Ag Day education resources including great colouring-in activities. Check them out here.

George also pointed parents and teachers in the direction of the Primezone, the one-stop-portal for learning material on everything ag-related.

On Monday, classmates were encouraged to take a photo in front of their smartboard and email it to George. Just like this class did!

National Ag Day on Tuesday, November 21 is a chance for all Australians to, like George, celebrate our nation’s food and fibre production and the industries that support it.

Did you know that each year the average Aussie farmer feeds 400 Australians, and 600 people around the globe?

You might think that farming is all about people in the bush wearing big hats, but it powers a much broader economic story. All told, agriculture employs more than 1.6 million Australians - in jobs like retail, logistics, technology and science.

How will you be marking 21 November? See here for some ideas on how to celebrate. #AgDay
