Farmers can now access even more information in one central location, with regional Climate Guides and a new training directory live on FarmHub.
FarmHub is a Commonwealth Government initiative delivered by the National Farmers’ Federation.
Launched in January this year, FarmHub is the first national directory of support and assistance measures for farmers. It helps farmers navigate the complex maze of government and private sector support programs, to reduce stress at an incredibly stressful time.
Chief Executive of the National Farmers’ Federation Tony Mahar said FarmHub was proving to be a valuable tool for drought-affected farmers.
“Thousands of people have visited FarmHub in recent months to identify assistance options as the drought intensifies.
“What was a challenging task is now that bit easier. It’s a small but simple service that we’re pleased to have delivered in partnership with Government,” Mr Mahar said.
Today, the NFF has announced that two new features are now live on FarmHub. The first is the Climate Guides – detailed climate information, tailored to each of Australia’s 56 NRM regions.
“The Climate Guides are another Federal Government project delivered by the Bureau of Meteorology, in partnership with CSIRO and FarmLink.
“The Guides provide farmers with hard data on seasonal trends to help inform tough decisions about drought management and preparedness.
“They’re a great addition to the industry’s drought management toolkit and we’re pleased they’ll be housed centrally with other farmer resources on FarmHub.”
Also live today is the new Learning and Development Directory – bringing together information on over 100 industry training and development programs.
“If we’re going to reach $100 billion in farm gate output by 2030, continuing to invest in our people has to be a top priority” Mr Mahar continued.
“The good news is there is so much on offer to people in the ag sector, but until now it’s been difficult to see all those opportunities in one place.
“In partnership with the Council of Rural RDCs, we now have a portal which brings together training and development options from RDCs, industry bodies and a range of specialist program providers.
“Again, this is just a simple way we can make life easier for those looking to take the next step in the agricultural career, and we thank the Council of RDCs and the Federal Government for helping us facilitate it.”
The refreshed FarmHub is now live at farmhub.org.au.
