Farmers are being encouraged to share their on-farm connectivity success stories in a new initiative by the National Broadband Network.
NBN Co, in partnership with the National Farmers’ Federation, wants to hear from farmers who have integrated the Internet of Things (IoT) into their farm operations and are now reaping the benefits of improved efficiencies.
Specifically, NBN Co is asking for farmers to submit a short video of their technology solutions to provide inspiration to their fellow producers.
NBN Co Head of Stakeholder Relations and Regional Media, nbn™ local, Sam Dimarco said IoT was all about embedding the internet into everyday items with the help of a fast broadband connection.
“On farm this can include remotely activated sprinkler systems, automatic tractors or sensors on cattle,” Sam said.
For farmers, IoT means two key things: more efficiency and productivity. With smarter equipment and processes, farmers can work faster, with more precision and less wastage.
“All these things and more are now possible to many farm operations, thanks to the roll-out of nbn™ access network.”
A farmer himself, Sam has developed a tutorial with tips and tricks to mentor farmers in recording their own video. Check out the video below or this helpful guide.
“By sharing their IoT experiences, farmers can inform and inspire their peers about what is possible once your farm has a fast, reliable and affordable broadband connection – such as that provided by Sky Muster.”
The tutorial provides advice on all the elements key to making a good video including scripting, lighting and sound.
Videos submitted will be, once reviewed and approved by the author, distributed by NBN Co to promote the opportunities that exist from on-farm connectivity and the IoT.
For further information and to submit completed videos by email firstname.lastname@example.org please include contain your name, location, enterprise and contact details.
