The current situation facing our nation brings with it an unprecedented increase in internet traffic being carried over the nbn™ network.
With a critical role to play in keeping our nation connected, we are working with the industry to ensure Regional Australian homes and businesses have continued access to fast broadband both now, and as demand continues to increase.
We are increasing capacity
To help alleviate congestion that comes with the projected increase in traffic, nbn™ announced on 18 March that every Australian internet provider can order increased nbn™ network capacity of up to 40% for three months, at no cost.
In addition, from the 1st of April, customers on standard nbn™ Sky Muster™ services will have their data download limits increased significantly for a period of up to three months, and in most cases, this extra allowance will automatically be applied to your account by your internet provider
Also from the 1st of April, nbn has made changes to its nbn™ Sky Muster™ Plus services by implementing an increasing range of applications that will not count towards monthly data quotas.
Uninterrupted access to the network is essential, so planned maintenance on the nbn™ Fixed Wireless network has been scaled back and wherever possible, will be scheduled overnight, during nbn’s standard maintenance window. This will help reduce the number of customer impacting outages.
We’re still on the ground
We’re doing everything we can to ensure network reliability. While it’s still safe to do so, our technicians are mobile and working with providers to troubleshoot customer issues as they arise.
